A small group of members have started a weaving group that meet at Brothertoft on the 2nd Sunday of the month (except December).
Every year the Lincolnshire Guild has a special lunch - our'Stuff Lunch'.
This commemorates the old 'Stuff Ball' which was established in 1785 to encourage the purchase of woollen cloth, known as stuff. Tickets to the ball were free, but each woman had to have a woollen gown of a different colour each year. Now we dress as we please, but show off items we have made from wool and enjoy a good meal together. Todays speaker was Kim from the Saori Shed in Norfolk. Saori weaving is a form of free style weaving that originates from Japan. Along with her talk she brought along examples and equipment for us to try. Unfortunately the mud put a damper on the Heckington Show this year, but the members gallantly manned our stand and enjoyed meeting the public. Members did well in the craft tent with several prizes being won and one member won the Sketchley Cup.
